Communications in Prolactin Research is committed to editorial independence and to the full and transparent disclosure of any interests that could be perceived to influence its editorial process. In accordance with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Editor-in-Chief makes the following standing declaration of interests. This declaration is maintained openly so that authors, reviewers, and readers can assess the journal's governance for themselves.

1 · Role and affiliation

Jakob Triebel, MD, serves as Editor-in-Chief of Communications in Prolactin Research. His academic affiliation is the Institute for Laboratory Medicine and Infectious Diseases, General Hospital Nuremberg & Paracelsus Medical University, Nuremberg, Germany. He is a physician-scientist working on the biology of prolactin and vasoinhibin.

2 · Relationship to the publisher

CPR is published by Yellow Thistle Publishing LTD (registered in England & Wales, Company No. 16187034). The Editor-in-Chief is founder, shareholder, and director of Yellow Thistle Publishing LTD. The publisher provides the operational and administrative framework for the journal; it does not influence editorial decisions on individual manuscripts.

3 · Relationship to the Vasoinhibin Reference Laboratory

The Editor-in-Chief is founder and owner of the Vasoinhibin Reference Laboratory (Vasoinhibin Reference Laboratory GmbH i. G., Nuremberg, Germany), an entity that plans to provide vasoinhibin measurement services. This activity is commercial in nature and is kept strictly separate from the editorial operations of the journal.

4 · Intellectual property

The Editor-in-Chief is an inventor on an international patent application relating to a vasoinhibin-binding monoclonal antibody (international application no. PCT/EP2024/073698; publication no. WO/2025/098661). He therefore holds a potential financial interest in the commercial exploitation of vasoinhibin-directed antibodies.

5 · Commercial interests

The monoclonal anti-vasoinhibin antibody (Vi-Mab) referenced in his research has been licensed for commercial production and distribution to Davids Biotechnologie GmbH (Regensburg, Germany), from which it is commercially available. The Editor-in-Chief has a licensing interest in these sales.

6 · Research interests

The Editor-in-Chief's research programme concerns the prolactin/vasoinhibin axis, the development and validation of vasoinhibin-specific monoclonal antibodies, and their translation into laboratory diagnostics. Manuscripts he submits to CPR frequently fall within this field and may therefore intersect with the interests declared above.

7 · Other interests

The following are disclosed or expressly negated:

• Grants / research funding relevant to the above: "none".
• Directorships, advisory roles, consultancies, or equity beyond those named above: "none".
• Speaker fees, honoraria, or travel support from commercial entities in this field: "none".

8 · How these interests are managed

To ensure that the declared interests do not affect editorial decisions, CPR applies the following safeguards:

• Recusal. The Editor-in-Chief recuses himself from the handling and decision-making of any peer-reviewed manuscript in which he is an author or co-author, or in which he has a competing interest. Such manuscripts are assigned to an independent member of the editorial board (appointed on a case basis), who manages peer review and the final decision autonomously. This applies to all peer-reviewed content types.
• Scope of the exception. The recusal does not apply to clearly attributed, non-peer-reviewed editorial content (editorials and calls for submissions), which is the recognised voice of the Editor-in-Chief.
• Separation of editorial and commercial activity. Editorial decisions are kept strictly separate from the commercial activities of the publisher and of the Vasoinhibin Reference Laboratory. Sponsors and advertisers have no influence on editorial content.
• Article-level disclosure. Where the Editor-in-Chief is an author, his competing interests are disclosed in the article, and — for articles that were editorially handled by him before this policy took effect — an editorial-handling note is attached to the published record.

9 · Commitment

Editorial decisions at CPR are based solely on the scientific quality, validity, and relevance of the work. This declaration is reviewed periodically and updated whenever the Editor-in-Chief's interests or the journal's governance change.
